Flight Training for Women
Women make up half the population but only 6% of all pilots are female and only 3.5% of these are commercial pilots. This figure will increase significantly in the upcoming years with female veterans returning from the armed services and with the barriers of discrimination against women in aviation coming down.
New Flight Training Scholarships Announced for 2010
Women in Aviation International, a nonprofit organization that helps women in aviation, just released a list of new scholarship opportunities for 2010. Although most of these scholarships are for women, there are many that are available for male flight training students, too.

Amelia Earhart – the world’s most famous woman aviator – received her first flight training in Long Beach, California strapped into a Kinner Airster prop plane back in 1920. It cost $10. A lot has changed since then but one thing hasn’t – the life of a woman aviator is still a challenge.
